amplifying our stories
It all began with an idea,
The Hey Sis by Bright Pink campaign was sparked by a need to fill a major gap in the breast and ovarian health landscape. Even though Black women are less likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer, we are still much more likely to die from the disease than our White counterparts. Black women are 42% more likely to die from breast cancer than White women which is a significant increase compared to 1990 when Black women were only 17% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women.1 Inspired by my own family health history, I created Hey Sis by Bright Pink to empower and educate Black women about our unique risk factors and inspire them to take control of their health.
Compared to other breast cancer- focused campaigns, I wanted Hey Sis to be vibrant and colorful, not muted. I wanted our stories to take space visually and for Black women to see themselves, their sisters, their cousins, and their friends.
The campaign came to life via Influencer takeovers, blogs, in-person activations and, monthly newsletters.
All assets are from my work at Bright Pink for their Hey Sis by Bright Pink campaign.
